Vegemite Rusks

Makes 18

Age: 9 months +

Olive oil
6 slices wholemeal toast bread
Vegemite
1 cup grated cheddar cheese

1. Preheat oven to 150°C and lightly oil a flat baking tray. Remove crusts from bread, then spread six slices with a thin layer of Vegemite. Cut each slice into three fingers and place on the tray.
2. Bake in the oven for 50 minutes then remove and sprinkle cheese onto rusks. Return to the oven for a further 10 minutes until rusks are crispy and the cheese has melted.
3. Cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight container for up to three days.

  1. I tried this recipe and they were irretrievably burnt at the 35 minute mark. I would put them in the oven for 20 minutes tops, then a few more minutes after adding the cheese.
