Fast Fruit Shake

Serves 4

1 cup natural reduced-fat yoghurt
1/2 cup skim milk
2 medium peaches or nectarines, sliced (about 2 cups)
1 cup fresh strawberries, or 1 cup frozen strawberries, partially thawed
1 banana, sliced
1 Tablespoon wheat germ (optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla or almond essence
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg
4 ice cubes
Fresh mint sprigs and strawberries for garnish

1. In a blender, combine the yoghurt, milk, peach or nectarine slices, 1 cup of strawberries, banana, wheat germ, vanilla, and cinnamon. Add the ice cubes.
2. Blend until smooth and foamy, about 30 seconds. If mixture is too thick, add a few more ice cubes and blend until smooth.
3. Pour mixture into chilled glasses. Garnish with mint sprigs and berries and serve.

Variation:
Experiment to create wonderful blends. Use your favourite fresh or frozen fruits: raspberries, apples, oranges, mango, pawpaw, kiwi fruit, and/or melon are just a few of the possibilities. You will need about 3 3/4 cups of fruit. Also, instead of natural reduced-fat yoghurt, try using a flavoured variety, such as berry or apricot. Or, substitute orange juice for the skim milk.
