Chocolate pear custard
Age: 12 months +
2 Tbsp custard powder
2 Tbsp cocoa
1-2 Tbsp sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cups milk
425g can of pears in juice
1 Tbsp butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
Mix the first three ingredients thoroughly in a medium-sized pot. Add the egg, milk, and all the liquid from the cans of pears, and stir everything together until there are no lumps.
Cook over fairly low heat, stirring all the time, adding the butter and vanilla when the mixture is hot enough to melt the butter.
Cook until the pudding darkens, thickens and bubbles around the edge, then take off the heat and cool with a plastic bag over the surface.
Cut the pears into smaller pieces. Put the pears in individual dishes with the custard on top, or serve the pears alongside the custard.
