Basic White Sauce
Age: 10 months +
Serves:
1/2 cup
30g butter
1 Tbsp plain flour
1 cup milk (preferably heated slightly)
salt and pepper, to taste
1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan and add the flour. Cook, stirring for 1 minute until the mixture is golden.
2. Remove from the heat and gradually whisk in the milk, stirring until completely smooth.
3. Return to the heat and stir until the mixture boils and thickens. Season to taste and use as required.
Variation:
For a Cheese sauce: Simply stir in 1/3 cup grated tasty cheese at the end of Step 2 of the White Sauce recipe above.
