Date and Honey Loaf
This cake is best made on day of serving.
185 grams butter, chopped
2/3 cup honey
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups wholemeal self raising flour
1/2 cup wholemeal plain flour
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup chopped pitted dates
Grease 14cm x 21cm loaf tin, cover the base with baking paper. Combine butter, honey, eggs, flours and milk in medium bowl of electric mixer, beat on low speed until ingredients combined. Then beat on medium speed until mixture is smooth and changed in colour. Stir in dates. Spread mixture into prepared tin. Bake in moderately slow oven of 160 degrees for 1 and 1/4 hours. Turn onto wire rack to cool.
